About Us
Ocean Housing Alliance, Inc. is a New Jersey nonprofit corporation formed in 1993 to take over operation of the 48-bed residential health care facility located in Pt. Pleasant Beach when the residents were threatened with eviction.
Ocean Housing Alliance, Inc. has been able to make significant improvements since the 1993 take-over and renaming of the facility, The Joan Valentine House. The property was purchased on March 22, 1996.
Funding for acquisition and renovation has been provided by the HOME Program of Ocean County, by the Affordable housing Program of the Federal Home Loan Bank through Summit Bank and the New Jersey Community Loan Fund.
Our organization is composed of family members and friends of the mentally ill who are dedicated to providing residents with the safe, healthy, pleasant, caring environment they deserve. Our nonprofit status enables outreach to area church groups, associations, clubs, businesses, and municipal, county, state, and federal agencies, as well as interested individuals and the community at large. This collaborative effort on behalf of the residents is the key to their opportunity to experience a decent quality of life at The Joan Valentine House which exists in few such New Jersey facilities.
The Joan Valentine House is committed to the total care of each resident, which includes full housing provisions, the coordination of health care thru physical and psychiatric health care providers, and various additional support services.
Ocean Housing Alliance is an equal opportunity employer/housing corporation and does not discriminate because of age, sex, religion, race, color, national origin or disability. The corporation conforms to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment and housing opportunities.
